The Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto is opening its doors to schools (from nursery to upper secondary level) with two days dedicated to teachers, headteachers and educators
The “Un Castello per la scuola” Open Days are a special opportunity to find out more about the 2025/26 educational programme: educational courses, themed tours and creative workshops designed to stimulate learning through play, active participation and curiosity.
The project, developed by cultural workers and the qualified guide at the Castle’s Infopoint, places great emphasis on:
- Inclusivity and overcoming gender differences;
- interdisciplinary approach and links with the school curriculum;
- development of key European competences;
- links to the themes of the 2030 Agenda (sustainability, citizenship, equity)
The events will take place in the Castello’s Noble Halls, which during that period will host the photography exhibition “Scatta l’estate”, featuring photographs taken by the children during the summer photography camp organised by Phamily Art Studio in collaboration with the Castello.
This collaboration has given rise to two original photography and storytelling experiences, which have been included for the first time alongside other activities in the educational programme for the 2025/26 school year.
The Open Day also allows teachers to experience first-hand that the Castle is a safe and welcoming place, with ample indoor and outdoor spaces, ideal for educational activities in every season. The setting of Corigliano d’Otranto, a quiet town that is child-friendly, provides the peace of mind needed to organise and enjoy a school trip safely and without any worries.

What’s on at the Open Day
- Presentation of educational projects: ‘Il Castello Volante’ for boys and girls and ‘Il Castello Volante’ for young men and women
- Free guided tour of the castle grounds
- Meeting and direct discussion with the team
- Distribution of information materials and booking facilities
