A party to dance, smile, spend time together and support Emergency: on Sunday 1 June from 7.30 pm, the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto will host Make Love.
An invitation to let yourself go and embrace every emotion with a light heart and an open mind. The star of the event will be Avanzi di balera, a contemporary reinterpretation of the musical and entertainment culture that characterised the old dance halls.
A blend of folk, waltzes and orchestral revival, alongside music from the circus, fairground rides and village festivals. But the most complex alchemy begins when Italian melodies alternate with new wave rock or British punk. Avanzi di balera is open to influences from anywhere; it’s unpredictable and waits for something to happen to spark its inspiration. The travelling format, created as a teaser for the ‘Sotto il cielo di Fred’ event and designed to launch and support the Buscaglione Prize – a competition for post-contemporary singer-songwriters – is now coming to Castello Volante.
To kick things off, setting the mood somewhere between chill and melancholy, Veronic and Leolss will take turns at the decks with a set ranging from Nu Genea to Khruangbin, via Mac De Marco.
At Nuvole, the bar and restaurant on the terraces of the ancient manor, you can enjoy an aperitif and discover the new menu created by chef Lorenzo Bianco. At the bar, special cocktails created for the occasion by Michele Contini will be on offer, perfect for capturing the spirit of the evening (info and table bookings: 3343429268 – nuvole@ilcastellovolante.it).
Admission to the event is free, with a voluntary donation to Emergency, specifically to support its healthcare activities in the Gaza Strip.
