From Utopia to Eutopia: a single vowel can change the world!
The word ‘Utopia’ is the reversal of the word ‘Eutopia’: the former refers to a perfect but utterly unattainable world, whilst the latter refers to a ‘beautiful and possible’ scenario, a ‘good place’. To make this vowel count, each of us must waste less, consume fewer of the Earth’s resources and, starting with our own needs, try to meet them with what we have to hand, making what we need ourselves, without necessarily buying everything. We must therefore use our imagination, become visionaries to think outside the box and see the potential in every material, especially those we often throw away.
The installation by artist Alessandra Bray will feature ‘sculptures of light’ made from cardboard, demonstrating how a material that is, in itself, humble can be given a new lease of life and enrich our spaces with great charm.
The opening is on Saturday 12 April at 6.00 pm (free admission)
