On Tuesday 20 August (8.00 pm – free entry), the terrace at Nuvole, the cocktail bar and bistro at the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto, will host an evening of poetry, music, food and drink.
From 6.30 pm, guests can enjoy an aperitif and sample the revamped menu created by Diletta Bagordo and Andrea Mazzola, whilst sipping a cocktail from the list carefully curated by Michele Contini.
At 8.00 pm, in collaboration with the Municipal Library and Magma aps, in conversation with Isabella Pandelli, Dr Alessandro Francesco Alfieri – a lover of cinema, literature, astronomy, photography and music – will present his first collection of poems, *Il peso dei fiori* (Edizioni Creativa). “These lines, after all, are nothing more than my attempt to gather these flowers and preserve them in a book, so that one day, as I leaf through its pages, these moments left to wither in my memory might restore to me the scent of those days,” emphasises the author from Maglie.
At 9.30 pm, the spotlight turns to the music of Samuel Mele. The singer, composer and musician (guitar, ney, oud), accompanied by Valerio Daniele (baritone and electric guitar), Giorgio Distante (trumpet and tuba), Clara Blavet (flute and vocals) and Fabio Moschettini (classical guitar), will perform tracks from the album ‘Il Santo Sforzo di capire cosa sia l’Amore’, produced by Nauna Cantieri Musicali with the support of the MIC – the Ministry of Culture and SIAE, as part of the ‘Per Chi Crea’ programme, and the call for proposals for the promotion of live recording projects organised by NuovoImaie. A debut in which the seed of the song form is enriched and takes on traditional, folk and world music roots: a highly personal debut album in which the Salento-born musician blends South American harmonies, Mediterranean sounds and, in particular, Middle Eastern tones drawn from unmistakable instruments such as the oud and the ney. A song capable of transcending the ordinary events of life and reconnecting with a divine love – a love for life, for oneself.
