On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May (8.00 pm – free entry), the terraces of the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto will host the “Festa tra le Nuvole”. Two evenings of drinks, food, music and conversation to celebrate together the new season at the cocktail bar and bistro within the ancient fortress, enjoying an aperitif, savouring the revamped menu created by chefs Andrea Mazzola and Diletta Bagordo, and sipping drinks from the list curated by Michele Contini.
It kicks off on Saturday (8.00 pm – free entry) with the wild rhythms of The Fillers. The trio, comprising Andrea Camarda (guitar and vocals), Matteo Moscara (bass and vocals) and Davide Mercaldi (drums), will perform a selection of rockabilly and rock ’n’ roll tracks in a non-stop show, bringing the original musicality and vintage sounds of the 1950s and 1960s back to life. This will be followed by a DJ set from Sorge: a fan since the dawn of the underground scene and an admirer of the most diverse genres, he will present his daring selections, pushing the boundaries of sonic eccentricity.
On Sunday (8.00 pm – free entry), in collaboration with the Magma association and the “Trame libere” Municipal Library, the second evening will open with the presentation of “Educazione Salentina. Or how Salento became Salento’, the new book by Lecce-based writer and journalist Federico Mello. Published by Kurumuny, the book explores the cultural and social transformation of Salento, describing how a once-isolated region has been transformed into a sought-after tourist destination, enriched by culture and opportunities, and has become one of the world’s most celebrated tourist destinations. The festival will conclude with a set by Max Nocco, a multi-talented artist who has long been active on the Salento underground scene, a tireless vinyl collector and DJ who draws heavily on jazz, soul, dub, rock, new wave, electronic, krautrock, hip-hop, funk and much more.
