STRINE
Between the Castello Volante and the village of Corigliano d’Otranto, an experience capturing the spirit of Christmas
Reviving the ancient tradition of ‘strine’ in Griko – a custom particularly cherished in Corigliano – visitors, accompanied by musicians and guides, will set off from the castle on a journey through monuments and residential areas. With songs and words from every corner of the world and every era, at each stop the group will offer wishes of prosperity and kind thoughts, and will receive gifts in return. A collective Christmas Carol in the company of the Spirits of the Past, the Present and the Future, to come to terms with the Scrooge who, at times, lies within us.

GUIDED TOUR OF THE FLYING CASTLE
Step inside the ancient manor in the heart of Grecìa Salentina to discover what, in the words of G. Bacile di Castiglione, has been described as the ‘finest monument of military and feudal architecture from the early sixteenth century in the Terra d’Otranto’: the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto!

CHRISTMAS CARDS AND LETTERS WORKSHOP
THURSDAY 8th at 5.00 pm
For boys and girls aged 6 and over (younger children must be accompanied by an adult).
On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and on the eve of ‘Christmas Card Day’, in the Noble Halls, amidst the cosy atmosphere of the Castle, children will be guided in creating their own personal Christmas cards and letters. We’ll be using hand-printing techniques, plenty of imagination and recycled materials.
Duration: 2 hours
Workshop cost: 10 euros per child (free for accompanying adults!)

VISIT TO BORGO VOLANTE
Tour of the castle and the village of Corigliano d’Otranto
From the village’s origins to its 16th-century boom, from the splendours of the Baroque period to the Grika heritage, from the natural beauty of the centuries-old Vallonea oak to life in the courtyard houses.
