Nine days of events, twenty sessions and over 30 guests taking part: from Thursday 30 June to Sunday 10 July, across Corigliano d’Otranto and Lecce, “Io non l’ho interrotta. Journalism, communication, politics” returns. The eighth edition of the festival, organised by Diffondiamo idee di valore with the support of Corigliano d’Otranto Town Council, thanks to a grant from Co.Re.Com of Puglia, under the patronage of the Puglia Order of Journalists and in collaboration with numerous public and private partners, will open with a tribute to the journalist Renato Moro and will feature, amongst others, Marco Damilano, Giovanni Bianconi, Vera Gheno, Roberta Covelli, Adelino Cattani, Dino Amenduni, Giovanni Acquarulo, Bruno Mastroianni, Leonardo Bianchi, Nello Scavo, Edoardo Novelli, Massimo Bernardini, Elena Testi, Saverio Raimondo, Beatrice Dondi, Valentina Petrini, a screening of Corrado Punzi’s documentary *La grande opera* and a satirical monologue by the actor Antonello Taurino.

The event runs from Thursday 30 June to Monday 4 July in the atrium of the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto. The first evening will begin at 8.30 pm with a tribute to Renato Moro, editor-in-chief of the *Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia*, who passed away in 2021. Journalist Stefano Martella and sociologist Stefano Cristante, joined by Rosario Tornesello (editor of the *Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia*), Mayor Dina Manti and Serena Fasiello, vice-president of the Puglia Order of Journalists, will present the book *Il binocolo e il microscopio. L’arte di raccontare il territorio’ (Manni Editori), which features excerpts offering a taste of the late journalist’s articles. Following this, Martella himself will discuss his recent book ‘La morte dei giganti. Il batterio Xylella e la strage degli ulivi millenari’ (Meltemi) in conversation with Giorgia Salicando. To conclude, Marco Damilano will perform a monologue inspired by the podcast “Romanzo Quirinale” (Chora Media) and the book “Il Presidente” (La Nave di Teseo). The audience will discover hidden plots and media campaigns, intrigues and unspeakable negotiations, betrayals, scandals and twists behind the election of the President of the Republic.
The first weekend of the Griko festival will continue on Friday 1 July at 8.30 pm with a discussion between Roberta Covelli, author of “Argomentare è diabolico. Rhetoric and Fallacies in Communication’ (Effequ), and the sociolinguist Vera Gheno, who will discuss the book ‘Call Me That: Normality, Diversity and All the Words in Between’ (Il Margine), and a discussion on the upcoming general election featuring communications expert Dino Amenduni, journalist Giovanni Acquarulo – editor and presenter of Rai Radio 1’s “Moka – Il buongiorno alla radio” – and other guests.
On Saturday 2 July at 8.30 pm, Adelino Cattani, Professor of Argumentation Theory at the University of Padua, joined by journalist Bruno Mastroianni and Bianca Chiriatti (editor of the *Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno*), will discuss the art of retort. A ‘staged’ question-and-answer session – featuring actress Giulia Falzea – to understand how to have a proper row without causing any harm. This will be followed by a special feature: Vera Gheno and Bruno Mastroianni will discuss *Tienilo acceso. Posta, commenta, condividi senza spegnere il cervello* (Longanesi), a book published in 2018 that inspired the most popular essay topic chosen by sixth-formers in the first written paper of the State Examination. Leonardo Bianchi, news editor at VICE Italia, will then speak about conspiracies and fake news. The evening will conclude with a satirical performance by actor Antonello Taurino in his monologue “I know you, mask: comic contrails, powerful interests, vaccine hoaxes and other conspiracies”.
On Sunday 3 July at 8.30 pm, the evening will open with the presentation of “A Terrible Affair. The Borsellino murder and the Mafia massacres: mysteries and misdirection” by Corriere della Sera journalist Giovanni Bianconi (Solferino), who will be in conversation with Ilaria Marinaci, with readings by Riccardo Lanzarone. At 10.00 pm (in the Sala Cavallerizza), in collaboration with La Festa della Cinema del Reale e dell’Irreale, there will be a screening of the documentary “La grande Opera” by Corrado Punzi (Intergea, Muud Film), which explores the visual conflict between the industrial machine and nature surrounding the construction of the TAP gas pipeline.
On Monday 4 July at 7.00 pm, in collaboration with Viva – Tante Belle Cose and the Municipal Library, anthropologist Laura Marchetti (lecturer at the University of the Mediterranean in Reggio Calabria) will present her research “Nuove solitudini allo schermo” (Milella) alongside journalist Lorena Saracino (President of Corecom Puglia).
From Wednesday 6 to Sunday 10 July, the festival then moves to Lecce for four evenings.
‘Io non l’ho interrotta’ is conceived and coordinated by Pierpaolo Lala and Gabriella Morelli, by the association ‘Diffondiamo Idee di Valore’ and is organised under the patronage of the Puglia Order of Journalists and with the support of the Municipality of Corigliano d’Otranto, thanks to a grant from Co.Re.Com. (Regional Communications Committee) of Puglia and as part of the ‘Le Officine del Castello Volante’ project, winner of ‘Fermenti in comune’ (an ANCI call for proposals funded through the National Youth Policy Fund of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers).
The festival is also promoted in collaboration with the Puglia Region – Lecce Library and Museum Centre, the Province of Lecce, the Municipality of Lecce – Agostiniani Libri, the Bernardini Library and OgniBene in Lecce, the Municipal Library of Corigliano d’Otranto, Conversazioni sul Futuro, Big Sur, CoolClub, Multiservice Eco, La Festa di Cinema del Reale, Viva – Tante belle Cose (a project supported by the Fondazione Con il Sud’s 2019 Voluntary Work Call for Proposals), Libreria Idrusa in Alessano, Mondadori Bookstore in Lecce and “I dialoghi del faro”, as part of the “Fari di Comunità” project, funded by the Puglia Region through Public Call 2/2017 “Cantieri Innovativi di Antimafia Sociale”.
