Mino De Santis in concert

The singer-songwriter from Salento presents his latest album

On Saturday 18 September (9.30 pm – admission €7, including one drink), the ‘small’ terrace of the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto will host a concert by the Salento-based singer-songwriter Mino De Santis, who captures the customs and traditions of southern Italy and the Salento region, telling stories of life that range from the sad to the comic, whilst never losing the irony and musicality characteristic of Italian singer-songwriters.
The concert is organised by CoolClub.it, in collaboration with SEI – Sud Est Indipendente Festival, as part of the Puglia Sounds Live 2020/2021 programme run by the Puglia Region (FSC 2014/2020 ‘Patto per la Puglia – Investiamo nel vostro futuro’).
In keeping with the vision of transforming the Castello Volante into a major hub for the visual and performing arts, visitors will be able to view the ‘Visioni del Sud’ exhibitions – a curatorial project by Big Sur spread throughout the 16th-century castle – until midnight during the event.

The set list will feature not only his songs that have now become ‘classics’, but also tracks from *Sassidacqua*, his latest album released by the Il Cantiere label and executive-produced by the Civilia Association, on which he performs a duet with Giuliano Sangiorgi, the frontman of Negramaro, on the track “Caddhripulina”, and features the singers Cristina Verardo and Marta De Giuseppe. Following his surprising debut with “Scarcagnizzu” (Fondo Verri, 2011) and “Caminante” (Ululati/Lupo Editore, 2012), the success of “Muddhriche” (Ululati/Lupo Editore, 2013) and the artistic maturity of “Petipitugna” (Abac Edizioni, 2016), Mino De Santis’s journey continues with this new album, released in 2020. The years go by, but De Santis remains a master of his craft, one of a kind because he still loves to tell stories, and he does so much like a photographer with his snapshots, an Impressionist painter capturing everything on canvas, or the village sage recounting the vices and virtues of his people. With richness and irony.

During the evening, guests will be able to sample the cuisine of “Nuvole – Castello Volante – Food, Stories, Cultures”, the Castle’s workshop of flavours and spirits. The gastronomic culture of Salento meets that of the peoples who have passed through the region, giving rise to original flavours.
