Tutti Fenomeni is a post-everything blender, a fragmented timeline that mixes singer-songwriter style with fresh, contemporary sounds, highbrow references and – deliberate – flights of fancy into the realm of trash. ‘Tutti Fenomeni’ changes the rules of the game; it’s the song you don’t expect, the music that’ll be all the rage in a couple of years’ time. Everything and the opposite of everything. “Merce Funebre” confirmed the young Giorgio Quarzo Guarascio as one of the most original and unique artists on the scene. The subsequent tracks “Parlami di Dio” and “Faccia Tosta” (produced, like the debut album, by Niccolò Contessa) have only served to further suggest that a revolution is on the horizon, whilst his contribution to *Manifesto* – the anthology edited by Jacopo Barison and published by Fandango – has also just been released.
The Salento-based hip-hop duo La Malasorte was formed in 2019 when rapper Proofeta (Pierluigi Conte) and singer LaMush (Claudia Giannotta) joined forces. Between spring and summer 2020, the two artists released three singles – ‘Blu’, ‘Verde’ and ‘Rosso’ – bringing together this chromatic trilogy on their debut EP, ‘RGB’, distributed across all digital platforms by Artist First. ‘RGB’ is a self-produced, independent work conceived and recorded at the studio on Via Z. The sound is a fusion of two genres stemming from the diverse backgrounds of the two artists: rap and world music. The result is a sound that hovers between dream pop and Italian singer-songwriting, brimming with cool colours and sonic nuances just waiting to be discovered. ‘Every colour becomes an atmosphere, a message, a different perspective, an unconventional way of engaging with reality. Beyond musical categories, then, there are only encounters,’ they continue. “Personally and musically, we have never been confined to a single sphere. After we met, it took a lot of work, but fundamentally, you have to be prepared to set aside the paradigms of one genre or another.” In February 2021, Gaston’s single ‘Alta Marea’ was released, a track featuring the Salento-based duo alongside artists Pietro Neos and Valeria Capocello, which was then performed live for the public on 15 April 2021. In addition to this collaboration, La Malasorte reaffirms its artistic dynamism by collaborating with Mu.Fu (Musica del Futuro), an underground collective of young rappers, singers and producers from Lecce, contributing to the tracks *No Fuffa*, *Himalaya* and *Love Manifesto* (due for release soon). On 10 June 2021, a new single, ‘Comodi’, was released.
