Cesare Dell'Anna Quartet

"Summer is coming to an end" at the Castello Volante in Corigliano d'Otranto

From 20 August to 30 September, the terraces of Nuvole, the cocktail bar and bistro at Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto, will host ‘L’estate sta finendo’, a series of live performances organised by Coolclub and Sei Festival as part of the Puglia Sounds Circuito dei Luoghi 2023 programme organised by the Puglia Region.

The series kicks off on Sunday 20 August (9.00 pm – admission €10 – advance tickets available on Vivaticket) with the Cesare Dell’Anna Quartet. The concert by the Salento-born trumpeter, accompanied by Ekland Hasa (keyboards), Stefano Valenzano (bass) and Andrea Doremi (tuba), blends the sounds of world music with Balkan melodies and progressive jazz. The quartet takes the audience on a journey from the boundless expanses of the desert to the plains of Salento, from metropolitan atmospheres to the musical magic that embraces the lands bordering the Mediterranean, creating new fusions and sounds.

The festival will then continue with concerts (9.00 pm – free entry) by Ninotchka (Saturday 26 August), Giorgio Tuma & We Love Gilberto (Sunday 27 August), Dalila Spagnolo (Sunday 3 September), Chiara Turco (Sunday 10 September) and Mundial, a project by singer-songwriter Carmine Tundo, guitarist Roberto Mangialardo and drummer Alberto Manco (Saturday 30 September).

From 7 pm (info and table bookings: 3343429268⁣ – nuvole@ilcastellovolante.it), guests can take a seat to enjoy an aperitif and sample Nuvole’s revamped menu, created by chefs Andrea Mazzola and Diletta Bagordo. During the evenings, visitors can explore the ‘Visioni del Sud’ exhibition, featuring, amongst others, the exhibitions ‘La Candelora a Montevergine’ by Alessandro Gattuso, ‘Queer è Ora’ by Alessia Rollo, curated by Transparent, 73100 Gaya and Big Sur, and ‘RestartRestanze’ by Maurizio Fiorino.
