Cristiano Metrangolo and Sheebaba live at the SEI Festival

Sud Est Indipendente | 18th edition | Losing oneself to find oneself

Under the slogan “Lose yourself to find yourself”, the programme for Coolclub’s Sei Festival continues.

On Thursday 22 August at the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto, the evening will kick off at 9.30 pm with Sheebaba. The German duo, comprising Eliott Eccho and Prof. Costello, represent a veritable wave of art blending noise, poetry and drum loops, presenting a conceptual and performative show that embraces all the colours of the rainbow – a clear sign of resistance against hatred. Following their debut EP *Bruit* (2022), also released in a remix version (2023), *Radau* was released in 2024 – a noisy yet entertaining reinterpretation of the music that has shaped the group. This work follows on from its predecessor and not only references the duo’s musical origins but also tells the story of their influences in a brutally honest way. Sheebaba, always seeking to reinvent themselves, face their daily struggles head-on, blurring the lines between personal pain and storytelling on stage.

At 10.30 pm, a preview of the new solo project by Cristiano Metrangolo, a guitarist and singer from Salento, formerly a key member of bands such as Teenage Riot and Le scimmie sulla Luna. Accompanied by Lara Ingrosso (vocals), Dario Ancona (guitar/bass), Stefano Greco (guitar) and Daniele Spano (synth/electric guitar), Metrangolo presents an acoustic, twilight-tinged singer-songwriter style, rooted in the decadent legacy of Nick Drake, reworking the jagged, dissonant sound of the past by stripping it of noise, in search of a new, possible melody. Their poetics and lyrics bear some resemblance to the world of Vasco Brondi, yet with a heritage that evokes Fabrizio De André and the great folk tradition.
