IRuna Live

Live music returns to Castello Volante

Summer is here, and the Castello Volante is once again hosting live music. On Sunday 22 May, the event will take place in the hall of the 16th-century castle, featuring Irene Montesi – known by her stage name IRuna – a musician and singer-songwriter.
IRuna loves black music and lime with salt. Raised amidst the South American culture of her heritage and Italian culture, she has been singing and imitating any sound she hears since she was a child, from the verses of Aramacao to the solos of Charlie Parker. In 2017, following an intense period abroad, she began to give voice and sound to her thoughts: in the autumn, she released her debut EP “Bacche di Goji”, a collection of all her singer-songwriter, soul and Latin American influences, presented live in the lounge at Monk in Rome. The video for the title track was premiered in *La Repubblica* in January 2018. That same year, IRuna embarked on a mini-tour that saw her perform at various venues on the Italian independent music scene. In 2020, she released the single “Fuori Tempo”, which heralded the release of a new album, musically more complex and eclectic, the result of collaborations with other musicians on the Italian scene and a solid co-production with Matteo Domenichelli, bassist for Giorgio Poi and PopX. This fusion goes hand in hand with her greater artistic awareness and her ability to tackle complex themes with spontaneity and candour. Syncretism is her guiding principle. Alongside irony, intimacy and the Moon.
