Wednesday 7 July (8.30 pm – admission €5 – info and bookings 3534294041 – 3395745559 – 3293345515), the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto will host the performance “C’era due volte – A Tribute to Gianni Rodari” by the Ventinovenove theatre company. Sleeping princesses, unlikely tailors and rulers in their nightdresses chase one another across the stage amid bursts of laughter, in an engaging play that requires the active and playful participation of the audience to be brought to a successful conclusion. Gianni Rodari understands how children think; he knows how to speak to them and teach them with simplicity and fun. His texts draw on the imaginations and inventions of children and young people, in a process he himself liked to describe as ‘pendular’, involving a continuous exchange that makes the audience the protagonists on stage. Conceived and directed by Mary Negro and Gabriele Polimeno, the production brings to the stage, in a modern key, a show inspired by ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, which will engage the young audience in an interactive way. This summer, following ‘C’era due volte’, Ventinovenove will stage ‘Il Principe Galeotto – Il Decamerone in Rime e Stornelli’ (14 July in Corigliano d’Otranto, 18 July in Cutrofiano, 27 July in Galatone, 30 July in Caprarica di Lecce) and “Il miracolo di Galatone” (10 September in Galatone).
