An extraordinary journey through the exhibition, taking in photographic archives, contemporary reinterpretations and works created during artist residencies, as you make your way through the spaces of Castello Volante, a multidisciplinary workshop in the heart of Grecìa Salentina dedicated to research and creative practices.
Every weekend from 12 to 27 October in Corigliano d’Otranto (Lecce), within the Castello Volante, visitors can explore ‘Visioni del Sud’, an exhibition dedicated to photography and the visual arts. Guided tours of the exhibitions will take visitors on a journey through the halls of the 16th-century manor, where they will encounter the human and cultural landscapes of Salento from the first half of the 20th century through the photographs of Giuseppe Palumbo, archival images and contemporary reinterpretations of ethno-anthropological research and the mythical-ritual world of tarantism, works resulting from artist residencies, and visual projects addressing social issues such as war, mental health, gender identity and historical-cultural heritage.
Visitors will be able to explore the thematic itinerary – devised in collaboration with volunteers from the Universal Civil Service – through the narrative of the exhibitions, in-depth profiles of the artists and reflections prompted by the themes of the exhibition project.
The ‘Journeys into the Visions of the South’ events are organised by Big Sur and CoolClub in collaboration with the Castello Volante infoPoint as part of the ‘Borgo Volante’ project, supported by the Municipal Council of Corigliano d’Otranto and funded by the Ministry of Culture – Development and Cohesion Fund.
