On Thursday 10 July (9.30 pm – free entry), the terrace of Nuvole, the cocktail bar and bistro at the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto, will host an evening of live music featuring the launch of the album *Makarìa*.
Launched in May 2022, the Makarìa project takes its name from the ‘macare’ – men and women associated with ancient rituals, herbal knowledge and nocturnal dances – ambiguous yet powerful figures in southern Italian culture. The group consists of five musicians: Claudio Vincenti (vocals), Alex Santoro (frame drums), Giulio Colazzo (accordion, vocals), Francesca Falcone (guitar), and Giovanni Alemanno (wind instruments).
With a style that remains true to tradition whilst remaining open to personal exploration, Makarìa has taken part in major events such as La Notte della Taranta and numerous folk festivals and events in Puglia and beyond. After three years of intense activity, the band presents its debut album: a record that blends folk sounds with a contemporary vision, striking a balance between respect for tradition and creative innovation.
From 6.30 pm, guests can enjoy an aperitif whilst sipping a cocktail from the menu carefully selected by Michele Contini.
