On Sunday 1 May, there will also be another ‘special’ Spring Sunday, with Nuvole open for lunch and dinner, a workshop for children (at 4 pm and 5.30 pm), a double guided tour of the “Volante” village organised by the Pro Loco (departing from the Quercia Vallonea at 10.00 and 16.00 – €10 – bookings on 3792802903) and other surprises. At 6.30 pm, don’t miss “Bandiera bianca”, a reading by and featuring Alessandra De Luca. A tragicomic reflection on today’s world of work, drawing on small, intimate personal experiences. The city of Rome provides the setting and backdrop, with all its complexities and diverse humanity. From overcooked spaghetti served to unsuspecting American tourists, to the impossible task of reporting on local empowerment projects, to little umbrellas held over the heads of Formula 4 racing drivers: it is a game of comings and goings in the frantic search for one’s place in the world. From 7 pm, Asheblasta takes to the decks for a world DJ set curated by Roberto Chiga, a professional musician and tambourine player. Just as ‘scèblasti’ (a Salento ‘pizzo’ originating from Zollino) is born from a blend of ingredients that, rooted in the local area, fuse ancient flavours with the modernity of street food, so too is the DJ set he presents flavoured with elements of world music, funk, jazz, soul, hip-hop and ethno-electronic, which blend with ethnic sounds ranging from Balkan to pizzica-pizzica, via the Middle East and all the way across the ocean. An exotic journey perfect for dancing.
