On Sunday 1 December in Corigliano d’Otranto, there’s a full day of markets and music on the programme. From 10.00 to 21.00 (free entry), the Mercato Coperto in Piazza Vittoria will host around thirty stalls brimming with gift ideas, vintage items and unique handicrafts. With a blend of creativity, craftsmanship and tradition, it will be the perfect opportunity to find something special and soak up the festive atmosphere. The event forms part of the ‘Borgo Volante’ programme, a project by the Municipality of Corigliano d’Otranto, supported by the Ministry of Culture – Fund for Development and Cohesion.
From 8.30 pm (free entry), the Sala di Nuvole – a cocktail bar and bistro on the terraces of the Castello Volante – will then host a live performance by Walter Celi, a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter from Puglia with an international sound and a fusion-inspired style. An artist with a unique artistic vision who blends rhythm and blues, soul and 1970s Italian singer-songwriting, with a particular passion for live performance. With Italian, Greek and Ethiopian roots, Celi brings a personal sound to the stage – a mosaic of influences that blend into a universal language, often performed in English to reach a wide and diverse audience. From his debut album *Lost in the Womb of the Night* (2017) to *Blend* (2019), right through to his latest EP *Ombre* (2023), the artist has successfully innovated and reinvented vintage music, receiving prestigious accolades such as the Arezzo Wave 2018 award and the title of Best Performer in 2019 from the Keep On Live circuit. Accompanied by the band Blend Project, he will perform his repertoire, ranging from his early tracks to his new singles “Il buio” and “La colonna sonora del pianto”. From 6.30 pm, guests can enjoy an aperitif accompanied by cocktails selected by Michele Contini.
