A personal story that becomes a collective narrative of strength, independence and hope for the future. On Sunday 10 May (6.00 pm | free admission | info 3895661849), at the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto, the ‘Leggimi la Puglia’ series, organised by the InfoPoint in collaboration with the Bookshop, will host the official launch of the book *Senza ombra di dubbio. Storia di un successo alternativo” by Stefano Petranca, published by Edizioni Esperidi in the Vademecum series. The event continues the series of talks with writers, academics and journalists dedicated to the region’s cultural, natural and food and wine heritage, this time featuring a personal account deeply rooted in the local community. The author, who will be in conversation with Liana Sederino, the book’s editor, and publisher Claudio Martino, lives in Corigliano d’Otranto and works as a switchboard operator at Maglie Town Hall. As a child, he was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, an eye condition that would gradually lead to blindness over the years. Yet this condition has never dampened his desire to fight back, to persevere and, above all, to live. After secondary school, he attended a switchboard operator training course in Florence, got married, started a family and embarked on a journey that was often an uphill struggle, transforming his difficulties into a story of courage, resilience and determination. In *Senza ombra di dubbio* (Without a Shadow of a Doubt), Stefano Petranca looks back on his life with the aim of sharing an experience that speaks to everyone: a testament to the value of independence, self-belief and the possibility of reinventing one’s own path. Today, Stefano is also a man who takes on sporting and personal challenges: he regularly runs marathons, has been chosen by CONI as a torchbearer for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, meets students of all ages to share his experience, and took part in a road trip through South America as part of the Wonder Way project.
