On 6, 7 and 8 May, the Castello Volante will host Spiritosa, the festival of fine drinking.
Imagine spending three days in Puglia in a medieval castle of rare beauty, surrounded by wines, sparkling wines, craft beers and spirits from all over the world, all of the highest quality, listening to live music and DJ sets, sampling culinary delicacies from the Apulian region given a contemporary twist, and balancing business with leisure, pleasant chats with professional networking.
To help you enjoy these earthly pleasures to the full, Spiritosa has devised a way to immerse you in the three otherworldly realms of the most famous journey ever imagined: Dante’s Divine Comedy.
Drawing inspiration from this, they have identified three distinct exhibition spaces, situated across the three levels of the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto: the journey will begin at the bottom, in the area of the Spirits and the Sodomites, within the underground halls of the Cavallerizza – our Inferno. Then you’ll head upwards… but not too far, to reach the mezzanine in the spaces of an old tobacco warehouse, where the beer area is located – our Purgatory. Finally, we arrive at the top level, in the Castello’s Noble Halls, which will host the Wines & Sparkling Wines area… you’re in Paradise!
7 and 8 May – Spiritosa Cocktail Competition
Giorgio Chiarello, the internationally renowned Italian flair bartending champion, together with Danilo De Rinaldis, Bar Manager and Head of Training at the Sartoria degli Spiriti Academy, have devised and will be running a truly one-of-a-kind competition:
A national competition featuring professional bartenders from all over Italy, organised around a truly unique and exceptional concept.

Humorous Guided Tours
An opportunity to explore the ancient halls in a different way, through the stories of the spirits that inhabit them and fascinating facts about ‘drinking well’ and feasting in the castle, from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era.
The tours are open to festival guests and visitors to the castle alike at a cost of €10 per person.
