SEI FESTIVAL | 17th EDITION
MY DESIRE
In 1947, the French artist Henri Matisse created, using the papiers découpés technique, an Icarus who does not fly towards the sun as in the Greek myth but floats in a starry sky and ‘sings’ of the joy of life.
Inspired by this image, illustrator Massimo Pastore set about designing the poster for the seventeenth edition of Coolclub’s SEI Festival. This new Icarus, however, transforms, evoking the mighty walls and ancient towers of castles and palaces which, every year, host the Festival’s concerts and events.
In Corigliano d’Otranto, Melpignano, Lecce, Castrignano de’ Greci and Castro, ‘My Desire’ will indeed take to the stage. ‘Desire’ is a simple yet complex word. We all know what it is, but it is difficult to give a precise definition. Even its etymology is controversial, yet it refers to the stars (‘sidera’ in Latin) and to anticipation.
‘My Desire’ will therefore be an edition dedicated to our desires and yours: ardent, cherished, expressed, unfulfilled, whispered, unspeakable. Would you like to express yours?
