Friday 23 September, at 10.00 pm, with free admission, the terraces of Castello Volante will host Claudio Prima on the accordion and vocals, accompanied by Giovanni Martella on African percussion and Emanuele Coluccia on saxophone, taking the audience on a unique journey that connects seemingly distant regions: Salento, the gateway to the Mediterranean; the Balkans; West Africa; and Brazil. A quadrangle that history has repeatedly brought into contact, united by the instruments that have travelled in the suitcases and hands of migrants, along the routes that over the last four centuries have fostered the blending of European, African and American ethnic groups and cultures.
The exuberance of Brazil, the magic of African Voodoo, the boisterous energy of the Balkans, the seductive and mystical melodies of North Africa. All these influences, blending together, create an ideal meeting place, bringing it to life and making it accessible to anyone with ears to listen, hands to keep time, and a curiosity to discover the wonder hidden behind the world’s traditional musical languages.
