Tradition and experimentation. C’mon Tigre, a duo around whom musicians from all over the world gather, navigate the fine line between these two realms. Imagine an open-ended creative space where basses and guitars interact with wind instruments, synths, percussion and vibraphones, immersing the listener in a sensual and hypnotic sonic journey. Setting sail from the Mediterranean basin and guided by a fascination with Africa and the Middle East, C’mon Tigre give shape to a unique, original musical language, blending jazz, Afro-jazz, hip-hop rhythms, funk and 1970s disco. All this without ever confining themselves to a single style, but pushing exploration to the limit – a dimension that every journey worthy of the name should embody. They have two albums to their name: “C'Mon Tigre” (2014) and “Racines” (2019). The title of their most recent album is a French word meaning ‘roots’, referring to the musical roots in which C’mon Tigre’s feet, minds and hearts are immersed, and from which, through their fusion-inspired tracks, they take flight to create entirely new soundscapes. On the album, the sounds of the Mediterranean – the sea of their homeland – intersect, intertwine and overlap with a kaleidoscope of other sounds and a new approach, based – as they explain – “on the kind of work we’d done rearranging our first album for live performances, thereby emphasising the synthetic elements of the tracks”.
