Valeria Puzzovio is a guest at the Blook exhibition: Maps, atlases and pilot books from around here

Collective Title – A network for community libraries

Organised by the “Titolo Collettivo – A network for community libraries” project, the visual and literary exhibition “Blook. Maps, atlases and pilot books from around here” continues. A series of ten events to reflect on books not only as objects to look at and touch, but also as an expression of the imagination.
On Friday 19 July (8.00 pm – free admission) at the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto, the discussion will focus on the imagery found on book covers. The guest speaker will be illustrator Valeria Puzzovio, who will be in conversation with Elisa Monsellato (designer) and Elisabetta Donno (classical scholar), sharing her recent experience with ‘Interno Poesia’, a publishing project launched in September 2016, dedicated to promoting poetry – contemporary, classical and 20th-century, Italian and foreign – through the series ‘Interno Libri’, ‘Interno Books’, Interno Novecento, Interno Classici and Interno Beta. The Lecce-based artist works in the publishing and advertising sectors, creating illustrations using traditional or mixed media. She tells stories by delving into memory and exploring the emotions of the human soul through drawings, collages and artist’s books. She has taken part in solo and group exhibitions, trade fairs and artist residencies. In 2020, she was selected for the International Artist’s Book Exhibition in Noto and, in 2021, she collaborated with Fidelio Productions, creating the drawings for Domenico Croce’s film “Vetro”.

BLOOK’S ILLUSTRATIONS
During each event in the series – which will conclude on Thursday 8 August (8.00 pm) with a closing party at Kora – Contemporary Art Centre in Castrignano de’ Greci – the three illustrators Massimo Pasca, Chiara Rescio and Sasha Ciardo will draw inspiration from poetic and literary texts to create three maps, one for each participating town. The event also includes the publication of a leporello (an accordion-fold book created from a single strip of paper or card) and three bespoke jigsaw puzzles for each library (Kora – Contemporary Art Centre in Castrignano de’ Greci, the Ceramics Museum and Municipal Library in Cutrofiano, and ‘Trame libere’ at the Castello Volante in Corigliano d’Otranto), which will enable communities to engage with knowledge through play.

TITOLO COLLETTIVO
The Titolo Collettivo project, promoted by Ramdom, Kora, 34° Fuso and Magma in collaboration with the Union of Municipalities of Grecìa Salentinathe Lecce Library and Museum Centre and LegaCoop Puglia, and funded by the Puglia Region using state resources from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, offers training, co-design and participatory initiatives aimed at public administrators, cultural practitioners, librarians and signatories to the Reading Pact, with a view to progressively transforming libraries (particularly those in the municipalities of Corigliano d’Otranto, Cutrofiano and Castrignano de’ Greci) into public services that are accessible, free of charge, recognisable and, above all, actively engaged with by their local communities. In line with other initiatives already underway in Grecìa Salentina, the project focuses on creativity and contemporary forms of expression, to be developed in sites of significant historical and artistic interest, with the aim of promoting the idea that sound cultural practices can foster growth in the social and economic fabric
