Yorker is a neo-soul duo from Salento, comprising drummer and singer Antonio “Dema” De Marianis and guitarist Gino Semeraro. Between late 2020 and early 2021, they released “Come un matto” and “Difetto”, singles distributed by Artist First and released on Discographia Clandestina, the independent label run by Carmine Tundo (La Municipàl, Nu Shu, Diego Rivera). Dema, having trained as a young musician with drummer Antonio Marra and later with Maurizio Dei Lazzaretti, broadened his skills by taking part in clinics and seminars across Italy with Virgil Donati, Dannis Chambers, Dave Weckl, Gavin Harrison, Marco Minnemann, Lele Melotti, Agostino Marangolo, Ellade Bandini, Roberto Gatto and other masters. Winner of the 2012 Shure Drum Mastery Competition at the Galmi Gaukaurinn club in Reykjavik, he has collaborated both in the studio and on tour with Africa Unite, Roy Paci, Raiz, Sud Sound System, Steela and Moods, Mannarino, Enzo Avitabile, Giuliano Sangiorgi, Willie Peyote, Raphael Gualazzi, Sud Sound System, ‘O Zulù, Franco Simone and many others. He currently also plays drums for Bundamove, Opa Cupa and Giro di banda. Gino Semeraro is a guitarist and producer born in 1995. At the age of 19, he began his career as a guitarist in Cesare Dell’Anna’s musical projects (Opa Cupa, Giro di banda, Zina, Tarantavirus, DNX and Talla). From there, he expanded his career thanks to the opportunity to perform across Italy and Europe (Milan, Rome, Barcelona, Manresa, Irun and London, to name but a few), enriching his artistic repertoire with six years’ experience on stage and in recording studios. His collaboration with Dell’Anna not only enabled the young guitarist to establish himself on the local scene, but also allowed him to meet and share the stage with numerous artists such as Mannarino, Enzo Avitabile, Giuliano Sangiorgi, Willie Peyote, Raphael Gualazzi, Sud Sound System, ‘O Zulù, Franco Simone and many others. Academically, Gino has now successfully completed his three-year undergraduate degree in ‘Jazz Guitar’ at the Tito Schipa Conservatoire of Music in Lecce. Having gained years of experience on major stages across Italy and Europe, the two musicians have now come together for this new musical adventure at ‘Cascina Dema Studio’, the headquarters where their songs are born. In 2019, the duo collaborated – both in the recording studio and in concert – with the young Czech singer Giudi, performing, amongst other venues, at several festivals in the Czech Republic (Rock for People, Nouvelle Progue) and at The Social club in London.
L’Edera is Alberto Manco, a singer-songwriter born in 1995, originally from Santa Maria di Leuca. He first appeared on YouTube in 2013 with a few demos recorded in his bedroom. At that time, Alberto was at secondary school and was writing songs with his brother Giancarlo. In 2016, he released “Rampicante EP”, a self-produced, completely independent project, in collaboration with Caino Marinelli, whilst Alberto was attending university in Parma and playing wherever he could, armed only with his guitar. He organised and self-promoted a small tour, even venturing outside Parma, and played as the support act for big names on the Italian independent scene such as Dente, Colombre, Giorgio Poi, Galeffi and La Municipàl. In 2018, whilst working as a DJ and event organiser, he submitted a demo of an unreleased track to the 30th edition of Controradio’s Rockcontest and won the European Social Fund prize. This award enabled him to go into the studio with producer Simone Sproccati (Salmo, Meli, Coma Cose) and record his tracks at Crono Sound Factory and Kaneepa Studio in Milan, in collaboration with Emanuele Santona (I Segreti) and Loris Giroletti (L’Officina della Camomilla). In 2020, he joined the roster of the independent label Romolo Dischi and, in June, released his first single, “Magica”, followed by a remix by producer Simoo (Speranza, Masamasa). Whilst awaiting the release of a new EP, between late 2020 and early 2021 he released the singles “Zattera” (winner of the Rockcontest) and “Asfalto”.
