Bazart’s Artisan Workshops

10 hands-on workshops for making handmade items

Choose one of the 10 hands-on workshops and take part in the event that brings together, as if in a vast arts and crafts workshop, craftspeople working across various creative disciplines.

Creating, getting hands-on, seeking harmony, learning from mistakes, and honing your eye. At the BazArt workshop, you learn by doing in the workshop space – a special place where you can explore learning practices based on creative action.

On Friday 13 December, from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm, the Castello Volante will host the event that will transform the ancient manor into a vast workshop of craft practices.

The project has been conceived by Big Sur with the support of Confartigianato Imprese Lecce and is being organised in partnership with the local council, in collaboration with Coolclub, Multiservice Eco and infoPoint in Corigliano d’Otranto as part of the ‘Borgo Volante’ project, funded by the Ministry of Culture – Fund for Development and Cohesion.

The Artisan Workshops are a creative space, a collective event where the public can experiment with artisanal materials and techniques by choosing one of the 10 hands-on workshops led by artisans working across various disciplines: from screen printing to bookbinding, from tailoring to macramé, from handmade paper to objects made from recycled plastic and other traditional techniques.

In one of its previous incarnations, Corigliano d’Otranto Castle was also a workplace – a factory for oil and tobacco – a space where raw materials were transformed into something new. And it preserves this legacy not only in the marks left by time but also in the spirit that animates the ‘Castello Volante’ – the cultural project that calls it home and has transformed it into a permanent creative workshop, a space where dreams are designed and built just as objects are.

The workshops will take place simultaneously within the castle’s spaces, offering a complete immersion in the world of craft workshops and the art of handcrafting.

The workshops, each lasting around 3 hours, have limited places and require advance booking.  You can choose a single workshop to take part in at a cost of 10 euros.
