Mobile chaos

an exhibition and workshop by Pino Guidolotti

“It’s starting to rain, the sky has darkened; now I can write. I’m interested in things that were already beautiful, which is why I find myself surrounded by objects that don’t frighten me and aren’t expensive – so I can erase them, cut them up, roll them up or play around with them. In short, I contemplate a place where I think I might find secrets, invitations or a person. I draw what I see, and if I make a mistake, I leave it as it is. Photography is tedious; I take few photos and do so reluctantly, but I’ve become very good at it by now. The portraits I’ve done are all skulls staring at you, which I’ve always stopped from laughing too much.”

The speaker is a multifaceted artist who has portrayed an era, recounting it as a central figure: Pino Guidolotti. A leading figure in fashion during the 1980s and 1990s, he has chronicled personalities, artists, film directors, architects, designers, and theatre and film actors. His work has not been confined to portraiture but has also embraced places and cities, architecture and monumental sculpture, from the Palladian Villas to Bernini. After travelling the world, Pino Guidolotti moved to Salento and now challenges the invisible. Now he focuses less on photography and more on nature.
