Launched in Paris in May 2024, the project took shape over the course of a journey that, spanning more than a year, covered more than 4,700 kilometres on foot across Europe and the Middle East, as far as Istanbul and the Syrian border. The photographs arise from the interplay between the movement of the body in space and the places themselves: cities, suburbs, landscapes, architecture and border areas observed through the slow rhythm of walking.

The camera accompanies this process as a tool for focusing attention. The images do not simply document a route, but record the relationships that develop between those travelling through a territory and the territory itself.

As the journey progresses, the route becomes an exercise in observation and listening. Encounters, faces and stories intertwine with the forms of the landscape, constructing a geography made up of both physical elements and shared experiences. Among the stops made along the way is Corigliano d’Otranto Castle. The images gathered along the journey now return to this very place, adding a further dimension to a project built upon the relationships that emerge along the way. The photographs taken during the journey reflect this ongoing relationship between movement and place, showing how every journey produces a form of knowledge and, at the same time, transforms the observer’s perspective.
