Keep your distance. Exercise your mind

organised by AIAP (Italian Association of Visual Communication Design) and Big Sur

If the pandemic is dictating new ways of life, we are all left feeling as though we are in limbo, waiting to return to normality. But this ‘fever’ that the planet is experiencing is so intense and profound that we are not sure we will return exactly to where we were or act as we did before. Is it perhaps right and necessary to seize this opportunity to rethink some truths that we once considered sacrosanct?

Having to maintain social distancing, rethinking basic hygiene rules, showing greater care towards the people we meet, taking a close look at the places we are about to enter, and becoming familiar with new tools – are these new emergency skills, or changes in a species which, as so often in human history, must evolve and attain a new level of consciousness and way of life?

The exhibition features a selection of posters produced in response to a call for entries launched by AIAP during the lockdown, aimed at visual communication designers, inviting them to reflect, design and share ideas and proposals regarding our new needs.

The proposals were collected and selected by the working group dedicated to the initiative, part of an ongoing project launched by AIAP to tackle the extraordinary crisis we are experiencing, to stimulate ideas and proposals, and to support the community of visual communication designers.
